Antique Vellum Travel Trunk

A Superb Vellum Travel Trunk. Made from Vellum which indicates high quality, with superb brass stud work and locks. Retaining the original silk lining and wooden hangers, with two storage compartments that have leather straps to secure the items stored inside. The base has 4 brass feet to protect the wardrobe while being transported. A fantastic bonus is the RMS Queen Elizabeth Farewell Dinner menu and travel labels, this shows the last time this beautiful wardrobe went to sea. A real gem for any collector. C1910

The word Vellum is derived from the Latin word vitulinum meaning “made from calf”, leading to Old French vélin, “calfskin”. A wonderful example of a period suitcase, perfect for storage or as a shop display.
