Antique Oval Judges Wig Tin (SOLD)

A Superb Oval Judges wig tin in black japanned steel heightened with gold, this box was made by the renowned English makers Ede & Ravenscroft, Chancery Lane, London. This Wig Box was owned by Judge Rountree. C1900

Ede & Ravenscroft are the oldest tailors in London, established in 1689. They have two London premises, in Chancery Lane and Burlington Gardens, very close to the famous Savile Row. They make, sell and hire out legal gowns and wigs, clerical dress, civic and municipal robes, academic dresses and other ceremonial and formal dress & wig boxes, and have shops in Oxford, Cambridge and Edinburgh.

This Tin is in fantastic condition and remains all original, would make a great little storage tin.
