A Beautiful English Oak joint stool, having a single plank thumb moulded top over a channel moulded apron, standing on slightly splayed barrel turned legs, joined by a box stretcher. C1780
Joint stools provided basic everyday seating in seventeenth-century households. Although common in their day, they were subjected to hard use, and few have survived. This oak stool, with its solid columnar turnings, is typical of the seventeenth-century style.
This stool remains in original condition, with a lovely colour & grain to the Oak, would make a lovely addition to the kitchen or used as a small side table. (Seat H: 46cm)
