Vintage “McGeoch” Military Aircraft Carrier Light

£350.00

A superb “Ark Royal” McGeoch Aluminium Light. Made from Aluminium, with brass fittings, the bulbs are contained in a glass cylinder made from toughen glass. The makers mark “McGeoch RTL” and serial number is stamped on the end of the light fitting. C1981

William McGeoch established his company of brass founders in Glasgow in 1832. As the century unfolded, McGeoch moved into the manufacture of fittings for the then new and exciting market for electric lighting. By the early 1900’s the company had a substantial, purpose built, head office in Glasgow incorporating a warehouse and three floors of showrooms. They also established showrooms in London and Newcastle and a manufacturing plant in Birmingham.

The range already encompassed a wide choice of domestic and marine electrical fittings from ‘artistic’ statuettes holding lamps – as used on the RMS Olympic, RMS Titanic and HMHS Brittanic – to watertight navigation lights. This light was taken from HMS Ark Royal, an Invincible-class aircraft carrier, launched in 1981, decommissioned in 2011.

This light has been fully restored and is in working order, has been rewired for home use and has been PAT tested, wired on off switch, this light would make a great addition to any modern home, shop lighting or man cave, in fantastic condition.
