Vintage
Clubhouse Interiors have a fine range of undated items that are vintage in style and age. From soft furnishings to wooden furniture, these items are made with a high degree of quality to ensure the stylistic authenticity of any interior design project. Clubhouse Interiors stock antiques alongside slightly younger, vintage pieces.
Clubhouse Interiors’ vintage collection spans style and décor, with many of our props – whether our fun, kitsch ‘retro’ items – from pinball machines, football tables, model boats and airplanes to larger pieces such as sofas, tables and musical instruments. In short, the term, when referring to original pieces, can be widely applied to items of various periods and origins that date back between 50-100 years old – the many items of stock that are, presently, not yet classified as an ‘antique’.
Much of Clubhouse Interiors’ huge selection of sports equipment, keepsakes and luggage are all authentically vintage items and all well over 50 years old. Many stylistically old accessories have been repainted or finished in distressed waxes, varnishes and paints, often making the original date a well-educated guess.
The definition of ‘vintage’ is also used for broader descriptions used in interior styling, an umbrella term that does not necessarily omit newly-made items that have been mass produced to appear and look aesthetically older. This, dependent on the item, the purpose and the level of quality in its manufacture, is carried out with various degrees of success.
With the huge market of vintage interiors making a massive impact on the home and interiors industry, it makes total sense that antique dealers guide their customers with the correct terminology, making this once daunting world far more accessible. Coupled with online information, this knowledge has, consequently, helped budding interior designers know exactly what they are looking at.
Other beautiful items produced with nods to particular design eras offered and sold as ‘vintage’ can also mean that they are indeed, older than the factory floors of last week, but not usually old enough to warrant the era of design to be a bone fide ‘antique’. At Clubhouse Interiors, we make every effort to find out and detail as much information about all our featured products, and as such, will very clearly state the age and design information.
The idea of aging an item to create a new aesthetic is not a new one, with the Victorian era of Europe purposefully aging their wood with pretend scratches on certain types of furniture, jewellery, art, even seeing a trend in the aged appearance of musical instruments – particularly violins and other members of the orchestral string section. Trends come around, as we all know, so it is little wonder that the new, welcome obsession with all things vintage has created a huge new industry for homeware to fit a style of days gone by.
The benefits of ‘vintage style’ are many – the products used will usually be much lighter to handle and likely in a perfect ‘distressed’ condition – and the price of vintage style items will often be considerably cheaper than their antique equivalents. This means the items can actually be used often without worrying about damage. This means they will usually be in fully working order and consequently more useful to their owner.
Clubhouse Interiors warmly invites you to visit their showroom for beautiful, authentic Vintage, Antique, Retro and Art Deco pieces.
