A Superb 19th Century Corinthian Column Lamp Base By J.Hinks & Sons. This Victorian corinthian column lamp base is made from silver plated brass, with a cast Iron weighted base. The makers mark Hinks & Sons 1782 is stamped on the base. C1880

J Hinks & Sons had a foundry in Birmingham from 1835. They operated from the Crystal Lamp Works on the corner of Great Hampton Street and Hockley Street, Birmingham and were responsible for the vast improvements to oil lamps, patenting the duplex burner for petroleum based lamps. Their trade stamp is associated with all good quality lighting from that period.

This beautiful silver plated brass lamp base is in original condition, was later converted. (Fully rewired and PAT tested, bulb not included).
