A Superb Silver Greyhound Winners Trophy. Made from silver with the Hal mark for London and the jewellers makers mark on the base under the trophy. This trophy was commissioned by Collingwood Jewellers, 46 Conduit Street London W1, for the grand opening of the Brighton & Hove Greyhound Stadium on Saturday, June 2nd, 1928 for the winning greyhound. C1928
Brighton & Hove Greyhound Stadium opens its doors for the very first race meeting and attracts a crowd of nearly 7000 spectators who watched history being made as the Graham Hopper-owned ‘Costs’ claimed victory in the first race.
I really lovely piece of greyhound history and would make a great addition for any collector of greyhound trophies or paraphernalia.
