Born on the Orkney Island located near the northern tip of Scotland in the early 20th century, this child’s armchair charms our eyes with its rustic appearance. Produced in the 1800s-early 1900s, these stylistically very recognisable chairs feature a wooden frame with a handwoven straw back. The curved back, slightly reminiscent of wingback chairs, was meant to protect whoever was sitting in the chair from the cold winds of the North Sea. This Scottish chair has two open arms, a woven removeable seat and four tapered legs. The unpretentiousness, simplicity and originality of the shape and material, will make this petite Orkney chair a great decorative accent in any living room. C1900 Seat H: 35.5
