Rare Dunhill Lift Arm Table Lighter (SOLD)

A Large & Rare Dunhill Table Lighter. The lighter has a beautiful brown leather wrapping around the main nickel-plated metal body, with a lift arm and flint striker, bearing the makers mark ‘Dunhill’. Patent & Registration numbers are clearly stamped on the lighter. C1930

From 1893 Dunhill ran a company selling motoring accessories, and in 1902 opened a shop in Mayfair. He developed a pipe designed for motorists in 1904. He opened a tobacconist’s shop in St James’s in 1907, offering tailored tobacco blends. Shops were opened in New York and Paris in the 1920s. This ‘Giant’ table lighter was first seen in the Dunhill catalogue in 1929 and was an immediate success. 

This very stylish piece of table wear is in original condition and is still fully functional, a real conversation piece and a great bit of Dunhill memorabilia.
