A great example of aviation history, this polished aluminium trunk has brass rivets and lock, with a removable tray to the inside and extra storage underneath, still retaining the original blue & white checked lining. These trunks were created using aluminium from a Lockheed Ventura, after the war materials were scarce and the Government ‘Utility Scheme’ of 1942 rationed wood, and stated that any available timber was to be used for the reconstruction of houses. C1940’s
Lockheed produced Aluminium Travel goods using surplus Aircraft Aluminium from the Lockheed Ventura, creating stunning polished goods that were light and durable and extremely stylish, this piece can be used for purpose or as a stylish Art-Deco piece in any setting, it does show signs of use, but this just adds to the character of this piece, it has been polished to showcase the aluminium and brass stud work.
